Overview
About dental veneers at The Dent Architect
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve colour, shape, size, or minor alignment issues. They can transform a smile when planned thoughtfully — but they also involve irreversible enamel preparation in most cases. Dr. Sudeshna Sharma assesses your teeth, gums, and bite before recommending veneers, ensuring the result looks natural and supports long-term dental health. We discuss material choices, expected lifespan, and alternatives such as bonding or aligners so you can decide with confidence.

Questions
Answers before you book
Straight talk from a specialist clinic — so you can decide with clarity, not pressure.
Are veneers the same as crowns?
No. Veneers cover mainly the front surface of a tooth and are used when the tooth is structurally sound. Crowns encase the entire tooth and are needed when strength is compromised — for example, after a large filling or root canal. We recommend the option that protects your tooth properly.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years with good care, though this varies with biting habits, grinding, and oral hygiene. Avoiding nail-biting and wearing a night guard if you grind helps protect them. We discuss maintenance at your review visits.
Can I choose how white my veneers will be?
Yes — within reason. We help you select a shade that looks natural against your skin tone and neighbouring teeth. Very bright "Hollywood white" is possible but may not suit everyone; we guide you toward a result that looks like you.
Do veneers damage your natural teeth?
A thin layer of enamel is usually removed to make room for the veneer, which is irreversible. That is why we only recommend veneers when the aesthetic benefit justifies the preparation. If your concern is minor, bonding or whitening may be enough.
